Markets putting the odds of unchanged October rates above 80% says expectations are settled for now, not that the decision is. September CPI and PPI running above forecasts leave the Fed with an awkward test: inflation may still challenge a pause even as markets lean toward one.
The blackout period means the next guidance will matter as much as the vote.
