ETH at $2435, do you still dare to hold it?
ETF outflows reached $950 million in three weeks, the whole network is shouting "ETH is finished," but 2360 stubbornly holds, and the price just bounced back to 2435. Is this the last escape window or just a washout by the dog whales using macro panic?
Let's look at the surface first: bad news bombardment, but the price didn't collapse.
24-hour range 2329-2445, slight rebound, moderate volume. Since early October, it has retraced from 2726, ETF funds continuously flowing out, macro is all bearish. But ETH stubbornly held at 2360-2400, a strong support zone tested multiple times. RSI 39-41 neutral to slightly oversold, MACD negative but histogram close to zero line, the eve of a turning point, don't take the wrong side.
First thing: ETFs are running, but whales are accumulating.
US spot ETH ETFs had a cumulative net outflow of about $950 million in October, with weekly outflows around $320 million. BlackRock's ETHA is the main contributor. Institutional demand is indeed weak in the short term, which directly pushed the price down from 2726.
Sounds scary? But look on-chain—some whales are buying the dip, and there are signs of BTC rotating into ETH. The scale is not large, but the direction is clear.
ETF outflows are the obvious move, whale accumulation is the hidden line. The obvious move scares retail, the hidden line hides institutions.
Second thing: Macro is not just wind, it's a knife.
September CPI year-on-year 3.7%, higher than expected, core also hot. Fed rates at 3.75%-4.00%, market prices a 40%-50% chance of a rate hike at the October 27-28 meeting. 10-year US Treasury yield 5.1%-5.3%, real yields rising. Non-interest assets are being ground down by interest-bearing government bonds.
BTC slightly rebounded today between 82,000-83,000, but the overall crypto market is still choked by liquidity expectations. High oil prices + high yields are the two biggest knives right now.
Third thing: Technicals have reached the "shame cloth" position.
Resistance above: 2440-2470 (near-term resistance + descending trendline) → 2500-2560 (MA20/MA50 dense zone, about 2547-2552) → 2670-2750.
Support below: 2360-2400 (strong support zone + lower edge of ascending channel) → 2320-2330 (recent shadow low) → 2200-2270 (potential liquidation dense zone).
Daily price still below all short/medium-term moving averages, short-term structure weak. Oscillating between 2360-2440, forming a potential double bottom/lower channel test. 2360 is the shame cloth, 2450 is the lifeline.
A daily close decisively below 2360 weakens the structure and may accelerate a drop to 2200; holding and reclaiming 2450 is needed to challenge 2500-2560.
Bull vs. bear, judge for yourself:
On one side:
JPM Coin expanding to Ethereum, institutional narrative still alive
Staking ETFs mature and operate, long-term lock-up effect
Whales buying dips + BTC rotation signs
2360-2400 strong support tested multiple times
RSI 39-41, neutral to slightly oversold
On the other side:
ETF outflows about $950 million in October, institutions weak short term
CPI 3.7% hot, 40%-50% chance of rate hike
10-year US Treasury 5.1%-5.3%, suppressing non-interest assets
ETH/BTC ratio under pressure, following macro not independently strengthening
Moving averages in bearish alignment, short-term structure weak
Trading strategy
Short-term/perpetual:
Light long positions at 2360-2380, stop loss below 2320, target first 2440-2470. If breaking through and holding above 2450, then target 2500-2560.
If rebound at 2440-2470 is weak or daily close fails to reclaim 2450, light short positions for short term, target 2360 or 2320.
Position size 5%-10%, leverage no more than 3-5x. Now is not the time to bet heavily on direction, but to pick up small profits within the range.
Spot/mid-term:
DCA/accumulate at 2300-2380 in 3-5 batches, premise is 2360 does not break down effectively. Reduce positions if daily close falls below 2280-2320 zone. Mid-term target first 2500-2700, then adjust according to macro and ETF flows.
ETH now is like BTC in September 2022—
Everyone scared by macro, ETF outflows, rate hike shadows, soaring yields, feeling the sky is falling. What happened? Half a year later, they kicked themselves.
The most expensive thing in a volatile range is not the chips, but the fees and emotions from chasing highs and selling lows.
