Tesla’s Q3 margins recovered. Can the improvement last?
Tesla reported Q3 revenue of $28.046B, roughly flat YoY, and net income of $787M, down about 43%. Automotive margins and cash flow improved from Q2, but company-wide profit remained under pressure.
The mix was uneven:
· Automotive gross margin excluding regulatory credits rose to 18.1% from 16.3% in Q2
· Operating cash flow reached $6.3B
· Free cash flow returned to positive territory at $1.531B
· Energy storage deployments reached 13.7 GWh
Better automotive margins and lower net profit can coexist. Operating expenses, investment and other items still affect total earnings.
Cash flow needs its own read. Tesla defines FCF as operating cash flow less capex. A positive quarter is encouraging, but it does not guarantee the same outcome as investment continues.
Demand indicators add context. Tesla said FSD (Supervised) adoption exceeded 75% of new vehicle deliveries in North America and described its passenger-vehicle backlog as the largest in four years. Backlog is not revenue already earned, and FSD still requires active driver supervision.
Energy is another test. Tesla reported record storage orders and backlog, while its Texas Megafactory began production with planned capacity of 50 GWh. Planned capacity is not delivered output.
The watchlist:
· Automotive: can margins hold as pricing, costs and sales mix change?
· Energy: can orders become deployments, revenue and profitability?
· Software: can FSD adoption support recurring revenue?
· Cash flow: can operations fund manufacturing, compute and robotics?
Q3 shows a sequential recovery in automotive margins and cash flow, not improvement across every metric. The next test is whether adoption converts into durable cash generation.
For crypto markets, Tesla adds context to the wider technology and risk appetite trade.
What will you watch first: automotive margins, energy demand, or cash flow?

Netflix beat on profit. The ad business is the harder test.
Netflix reported Q3 revenue of $12.874B, up about 12% YoY, and net income of $3.664B, up about 44%. Diluted EPS came in at $0.87, above the $0.82 analyst consensus.
The quarterly picture was strong:
· Operating income reached about $4.46B, up 37% YoY
· Operating margin was 34.6%, above prior guidance of 33.2%
· Membership growth and pricing supported revenue
But management said expense timing helped the margin beat. One strong quarter does not establish a new profitability baseline.
Advertising remains the bigger execution question. Netflix lowered its 2026 ad revenue target from about $3B to $2.7B, citing slower rollout of some ad capabilities. That is a lower target, not declining ad revenue. Management still expects roughly 80% annual growth.
The forward guide is also important:
· Q4 revenue is expected at $13.44B, up more than 11% YoY, supported by memberships, pricing and advertising
· Full-year revenue is expected at $51.1B, near the lower end of the prior $51B to $51.4B range
· Full-year operating margin is guided at 31.5%
These are forecasts, not results already delivered.
Cash flow adds another layer. Q3 free cash flow was about $2.9B. Netflix lowered its full-year outlook from $12.5B to $12B, mainly because of a Q4 real estate transaction. The advertising revision should not automatically be treated as the cause.
The next test is whether Netflix can keep growing while defending margins and building a second revenue engine. Watch ad-product adoption, pricing and membership growth, margin durability beyond expense timing, and cash generation after content and other investment.
For crypto markets, Netflix is a useful read on consumer demand and the broader growth trade, but the key signal is execution rather than the EPS beat alone.
What will you watch first: advertising execution, subscriber demand, or cash flow?

SpaceX’s Q3 numbers show two different stories: AI leads revenue, while Connectivity leads operating profit.
SpaceX reported Q3 revenue of $14.575B, up 161% YoY, and net income of $4.404B, reversing a year-earlier loss.
The segment mix matters:
· Super Intelligence generated $7.560B in revenue, up 830% YoY, with $431M in operating income
· Connectivity, which includes Starlink, generated $5.248B, up 69%, with $2.367B in operating income
· Space generated $1.767B and posted a $7M operating loss
AI produced more than half of quarterly revenue. Connectivity contributed most of the operating profit. Revenue leadership and profit leadership are not the same.
Starlink’s consumer subscriber base reached 13.6M, adding 1.6M during the quarter.
SpaceX said Starship completed its first revenue-generating mission, deploying 26 Starlink V3 satellites. This marks operational progress, but does not prove future revenue or returns.
Capital intensity remains the bigger question. SpaceX reported about $19.6B in Q3 capex, focused on AI infrastructure, Starship and satellite production. Capex exceeded quarterly revenue, but that alone does not measure cash burn. Operating cash generation and financing matter.
What to watch next:
· AI economics: can rapid revenue growth translate into durable margins?
· Starlink: can subscriber growth support recurring revenue and profitability?
· Execution: how quickly can new capacity meet demand?
· Cash flow: can operating cash generation support capex?
The quarter shows strong growth and a return to net profitability. The harder test is whether expansion can support continued investment and durable cash generation.
For crypto markets, the result adds context to the broader AI and infrastructure trade. If AI demand stays strong, capital spending may support the theme. If returns lag investment, markets may focus more on cash flow.
What will you watch first: AI margins, Starlink growth, or cash flow?
