ETH at $2380, are you panicking?
ETF outflows have nearly hit $1 billion consecutively, whales are increasing short positions on Hyperliquid, the Federal Reserve meeting is in two days—but just as everyone is ready to cut losses, JPMorgan has deployed JPM Coin on the Ethereum mainnet, and BitMine’s holdings have reached 6.04 million coins. Is this wave institutions quietly rotating, or the last escape window of the bear market?
First, look at the surface: bad news bombardment, but 2360 hasn’t broken.
A 24-hour drop of 1.5%-1.8%, sliding from over 2700 in early October down to 2380, daily moving averages in a bearish alignment, RSI dropped to the oversold zone of 27-38. ETF net outflows last week were $320 million, nearly $1 billion cumulative in October, with BlackRock’s ETHA contributing the majority. Whales are shorting, funding rates still favor longs—a battle between bulls and bears, but no clear winner.
But wait.
You only see ETFs selling, have you noticed BitMine bought another 12,500 ETH last week, with total holdings at 6.04 million ETH, accounting for 4.9% of circulating supply?
Tom Lee’s exact words: “The current pullback is an attractive risk-reward opportunity.”
First point: ETFs are selling, institutions are buying
On the surface, ETF outflows of $900-1 billion look scary.
JPMorgan deployed JPM Coin on the Ethereum mainnet. Not a testnet, not a proof of concept, but real payments and transfers for institutional clients. One of the biggest players in traditional finance has put deposit tokens directly on ETH.
BlackRock’s clients are redeeming, JPMorgan’s institutional clients are running real business on-chain. Who’s smarter?
Second point: Oversold doesn’t mean reversal, but 2360 has a story
Daily RSI at 27-38, technically “oversold.”
But oversold can get more oversold—during the 2022 bear market, RSI stayed below 20 for a month.
What really matters is the level:
2360 is a recent low and a Fib 61.8% confluence support. The price tested near 2360 twice in the past three days and was pulled back, indicating someone is defending that level.
But don’t get too excited—
Resistance above is 2410-2440 intraday, 2480-2500 is an EMA dense zone, 2550+ is a previous heavy volume area. Each level is a trap zone, every rebound faces selling pressure.
An oversold rebound is an opportunity for trapped holders to reduce positions, not for chasing highs to get rich.
Third point: The Fed meeting in two days is the real referee
On October 27-28, the Fed will hold its policy meeting. September CPI at 3.7% is somewhat hot, oil prices are high, and US Treasury yields are volatile. The market consensus is to keep rates unchanged, but talks of "another rate hike" are heating up.
If the Fed leans dovish → risk assets catch a breather → ETH rebounds to 2480-2550
If the Fed leans hawkish → 2360 likely won’t hold → next stops 2320 or even 2200
Bull vs. bear, you decide
On one side:
JPM Coin on Ethereum mainnet, real money from traditional finance entering
BitMine holding 6.04 million ETH, Tom Lee calls for over 10,000 in 12 months
RSI oversold, 2360 tested twice without breaking
200-day moving average at 2140-2150 still supports below
On the other side:
ETF outflows near $1 billion in October, led by BlackRock selling
Whales increasing shorts on Hyperliquid
Daily moving averages bearish, descending channel intact
Fed may lean hawkish, macro pressure
Key levels
Resistance above: 2410-2440 → 2480-2500 (EMA dense zone) → 2550+
Support below: 2370-2380 → 2360 (critical line) → 2320-2300 → 2200
Trading strategy
Short-term traders:
Light long positions at 2370-2385, stop loss below 2350 (exit if broken). Target half profit at 2410-2440, if volume breaks above 2440 then watch 2480. Leverage capped at 5-10x, don’t get greedy.
If volume breaks below 2360 with a daily close bearish, light short positions targeting 2320-2300, stop loss above 2385. But shorts are risky, beginners should avoid.
Swing traders:
Operate within 2360-2500 range. Consider adding positions if breaking and holding above 2500 to target 2600+; if breaking below 2300, wait and watch for 2200. Avoid heavy bets on direction in the middle range.
Long-term investors:
DCA below 2300 in batches, focus on spot, avoid contracts. The 200-day moving average at 2140-2150 is the mid-term structural bottom; reassess if broken.
ETH now looks like BTC in October 2023—
Everyone watches ETF outflows calling it "trash," while institutions quietly accumulate below.
Looking back six months later, those who cut losses at 26,000 never got back in.
The cruelest part of the market: it feeds others’ positions with your panic, then uses those positions to slap your face.
